Celebrating Forest Products from Balkan Countries

On Saturday the 14th of December, the organization called CNVP (Connecting Natural Values & People Foundation) organized the “Celebrating forest products from the Balkan countries” fair at the pedestrian area in Shkodra. This fair was also promoted by the website of slowfood.com and seemed interesting for us to go to and to try the locally produced products from the region. The advertisement on the website said that there would be food exhibitions, technical workshops, cultural music and sport events with games focusing in food production.
As it was organized by the CNVP and promoted by a website like slowfood.com, we expected to find something different than the other local product fairs organized all over Albania, but unfortunately, it was a fair like all the others. There were only a few stands with local, bio products (delicious cheese, tasty raki, home-made honey etc.) with loud dance music, no cooking on the spot, no technical workshops or cultural music what so ever. However, Shkodra is a beautiful town located on the foot of the Albanian Alps and on the shore of Lake Shkodra with amazing views where you can enjoy a delicious lunch of carp from the oven (krap ne tjegull) with 360 views over the lake, the castle of Shkodra and the dramatic mountains.
